Bus Operator

Location: Glendale, Arizona

SUMMARY:  Provide safe and courteous and on-time transportation to the general public in a variety of mass transit vehicles, performs pre-and-post-trips vehicle inspections, cleaning and servicing to assist in maintaining vehicles in a safe operating condition, follow a regular schedule of pick-ups and drop-offs at route stops and terminals, adhere to traffic regulations, collect fares, provide verbal information to the public regarding routes, schedules and transfer points, communicate and interact with individuals of various backgrounds and abilities, provide assistance to disabled ridership through the operation of lifts and other special devices; communicate with Operation Manager and Supervisors by radio and provide verbal and written reports; respond to operational issues and the public per prescribed policy. Perform any other duties deemed necessary by Management or Supervisors.


  • Safely Operate a bus and provide excellent customer service to passengers 
  • Perform pre-and post trips vehicle inspections
  • Follow route paddles and ensure On Time Performance
  • Adhere to traffic regulations
  • Collect fares and issue transfers
  • Able to provide verbal information to the public regarding routes , schedules and transfer points
  • Respond to operational issues
  • Maintain a clean bus as needed and daily 
  • Perform any other duties necessary by Management or Supervisors


  • Minimum 23 years old
  • 2 or more years experience operating a transit vehicle
  • A valid State of Arizona class B CDL driver’s license with a P (Passenger) endorsement or qualify for one during initial training
  • Minimum High School diploma or GED
  • Acceptable driving record with no more than 3 points on the applicant’s driving record
  • Acceptable background with no felonies
  • Ability to read, speak and write in English (bilingual a plus)
  • Knowledge of major streets, public places and landmarks within local geographic service area
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Reliable punctuality and attendance
